It was Easter Sunday, A bright and sunny day, I remember it so well Inside my wire cage. The kids all shouted with
glee, As they grabbed my tender
ears, They didn’t know it
hurt me, They didn’t know my
fears. They restrained me in their
arms, My little heart beat so fast, I whimpered in pain and fear, How long was this torture
to last? As the days went by they lost
interest, I stayed alone in my tiny
home, It was outside in the yard, I was cold and so alone. I grew bored and oh so lonely, How I longed to romp once
more, To frolic in the soft green
clover, Won’t someone please
open my door? Then one day I was taken, From the only home I’d
known, To be put in a cardboard box, Frightened and so alone. I was put in yet another cage, Where I stayed for only a
day or so, Then was taken to a little room, What was this? I did not know. A man came out with a white
coat on, In his hand he held a syringe, He stuck it in my tiny foot, It was just a little twinge. I soon fell fast asleep, And it was very dark, But then I heard a wondrous
sound, It was that of a golden harp. I awoke to much commotion, There were bunnies and cats
and dogs, Birds and horses and gerbils, Elephants and cows and frogs. What was this place? I mused
aloud, It was beautiful with meadows
and trees, Flowers and grass and CLOVER! Ants and bugs and bees. Another bunny with floppy
ears, Came hopping over a ridge, Welcome my friend and furry
fellow, Welcome to The ©S.
